CUSTOMERS HEAVE SIGH OF RELIEF AS IBEDC DISTRIBUTES TRANSFORMERS

Vandalism responsible for over 50% of blackouts- As IBEDC scores victory over vandalism

Vandalism is one of the major hindrances of IBEDC in supplying regular electricity to customers asides the inadequate energy generation in the country. Over 250 transformer substations have been vandalized across the franchise in the last 11 months valued at over ₦800M. The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has reinstated the warning that any act of vandalism shall be dealt forthwith as the company would ensure the law bears down its full weight on any perpetrators found guilty of this societal menace.

The attention of the management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has been drawn to the publication “MAGBORO LIGHT: IBADAN DISCO RISKS SANCTIONS, SAYS REP” in The Punch newspaper of the 17th of January, 2017. The management would like to state emphatically that it had lived up to its promise to ensure the people of Magboro/Mowe/Ibafo and environs were energized at the end of last year, 2016, by an alternative power supply route through Kobape road 2x60MVA, 132/33KV NIPP New Abeokuta Transmission Station. It is worthy of note that the project cost us over N70 million and community leaders, stakeholders and the press all went on a tour of the project corridor while it was on-going.

UPDATE ON POWER SITUATION IN MAGBORO/IBAFO/MOWE

Magboro, for now, is fed by an ancient lengthy power line from Abeokuta Transmission Station. Due to much urban expansion and developments over the years, the line got overloaded. This made the line's power qualities to dwindle as it could not match up with the expansion rate. The customers at the tail end of the line often have complaints.

IBEDC LAUNCHES NEW BILLING SYSTEM

The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has launched a new billing system that is geared towards meeting the expectations of its valued customers across the franchise. The new robust and scalable billing system, aptly tagged EMS -Electricity Management System, provides an online real time payment platform that enables customers to make payments of their electricity bills at any IBEDC designated payment center and service hub across the IBEDC franchise coverage area.

IBEDC TEMPORARILY WITHDRAWS SERVICES FROM ESA-OKE OVER ATTACK

The Management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, (IBEDC) has decried the recent attack meted out on her staff in Esa-Oke, Osun state by the youths of the community due to a recent power outage by Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Oshogbo. The outage was as a result of the routine maintenance of their 132KVA line from Saturday, August 20th to Sunday August 21st, 2016 and supply was restored at about 9am on Tuesday, 23rd August, 2016. The exercise is necessary for quality and safe wheeling of energy as indicated by TCN.

IBEDC RANKS FIRST AMONGST DISCOS

According to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) bench marking and ranking of DISCOS for the 2nd quarter of 2016, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has moved from the 4th position it occupied in the first quarter of 2016 to the number one position. This good development was made known by NERC in the presence of the Honourable Minister of Works, Power & Housing Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola at the monthly sectoral meeting held at Maiduguri last week. The rankings are based on the following parameters-ATC&C losses reduction, Collection efficiency, Metering progress, HV faults clearance Index and Reporting Compliance.

IBEDC Hosts DISCO for Women Conference

Over 400 Nigerian women from private sector, government agencies and academic institutions came to discuss narrowing the gender gap and women’s career opportunities in the inaugural Women in Energy Conference, held by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) in Ibadan on July 28, 2016.The event, organized in partnership with USAID, focused on how to build career strategies and navigate the complex and competitive work environment as a woman. “Women should not stay in the background but see themselves up to the task and able to measure up with men in their chosen career path,” said one of the participants, Adeyemo Ganiyat Omowunmi, engineer at IBEDC.

IBEDC HOSTS SARPA MEETING

On the 23rd of June 2016, IBEDC hosted the South African Revenue Protection Agency (SARPA) in a knowledge sharing meeting on revenue protection strategies. SARPA was founded in 1997 with the aim to promote exchange of information and finding solutions to the protection of income and assets among utility companies. This year’s edition focused on some of these emerging issues plaguing the electricity distribution business.

The attention of the management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has been drawn to the publication “Fire guts Oyo Gov’s Wife’s Office” in the Nigerian Tribune (22nd March, 2016, Page 41) alleging a fire outbreak in the ICT department of the Oyo state governor’s wife’s office was due to power surges resulting from numerous power interruptions from our company. IBEDC Commissions 500 Kva Transformer at Sharp Corner, Oke-Ado, Ibadan

As part of the celebration of its first year anniversary, IBEDC distributed transformers to needy communities across its franchise areas in an initiative called “Powering dreams in a hundred communities”. This was flagged off by the commissioning of a 500 kVA transformer at Sharp Corner, Oke Ado, Ibadan.

The Managing Director, Engr. NERC Introduces New Tariff - MYTO 2.1

The Chairman Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Dr Sam Amadi, on the 3rd December, 2014 announced that the commission has approved an upward review of Multi Year Tariff Order (MYTO) 2.1 regime. The new increase in tariff for all customers takes effect on the 1st of January, 2015 except Residential R2 customers, which will take effect on 1st of July, 2015.

Honourable Abiodun Supports Power Supply to 26 Communities in Ijebuland

Following the proposed rehabilitation of the Waterside Barrack 33KV feeder in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. IBEDC is set to provide power to 26 communities in Ijebuland. A donation was made to the company by Honorable Dapo Abiodun to support the rehabilitation of the 33KV feeder. The Company Secretary, Ms Bolanle Onagoruwa explained that with the donation of 50 percent of the total contract sum needed for this project by an illustrious son, the project would be completed within a 30 day execution period.

MD Customer Osogbo Apprehended for Meter Bypass

The Osogbo Business Hub Manager, Mr. Babatunde Bewaji, his team of Technicians, Marketers and in collaboration with the Nigerian Police apprehended Ideal Nest Hotel in Osogbo, Osun State for Energy Theft. This operation was triggered by a tip off made to the Business Hub Manager about the criminal activity of the said hotel. The Head of the Marketing Department, Noel R. Valeza made this remark, “This is the new dispensation, and all energy thieves shall be apprehended and brought to order. The commensurate punishment shall include payment of lost revenue accrued over time by perpetrators”. The management salutes and applauds the Business Hub Manager and his team whilst encouraging other Business Hub Managers to toe this path to ensure we recover all revenue being lost.

IBEDC RESTORES POWER SUPPLY TO ONA-ARA COMMUNITIES AFTER THREE YEARS OF OUTAGE

Hope was restored for the communities in Ona-Ara and their environs when the 2x15mva, 33/11 kva substation at Akanran, Olorunsogo along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway was commissioned by IBEDC. The two substation transformers were hitherto damaged during the national fuel hike protests by some misguided, irate youths numbering about three thousands some three years ago.
