IBEDC Holds Community Engagement at Ibadan Regional Office

IBEDC held a community engagement to further sensitize the public on the tariff increase. It held at the Ibadan Regional Office, Molete on the 27th of January 2016. 50 invites were present including about 32 community leaders. The RCM, Yetunde Adeoti gave the opening remarks and solicited the support of the customers on the new trend and promised to reciprocate in terms of efficient service delivery, and that customers will only pay for energy they consumed with the advent of the fixed charged removal. The Regional Communication Officer, Frank Williams made the presentation on the Tariff increase and a session for questions and answers was given.

The communities were charged to cooperate with the company in the fight against vandalism, and promised that IBEDC will improve on the local faults clearing, this was specifically affirmed by the Regional Technical Manager, Peter Oyelami. They informed that equipment and materials procurement and maintenance costs have been built into the 2016 CAPEX budget, and that it is not the responsibility of the communities to do such, all things being equal. They also informed that IBEDC is providing about 250, 000 meters under the CAPMI and Meter roll out schemes. The team vowed to make the benefits of the new tariff to reflect in the services to the customers. They however pleaded that, there should not be violent reactions to the new tariff structure, and solicited for prompt and adequate bills payments.
